Joe Byers



LCDR Charles (Joe) Byers, a native of Dublin, GA, has been Director of Solar Energy Technologies for iEnergyInc since his honorable retirement from from the U.S. Navy. His interests include advanced PV technology training in support of future educational initiatives and in support of alternative energy humanitarian relief projects within the U.S. and overseas. While on active duty, Joe helped implement several technical engineering research projects with the Navy's Program Management Office PMA-207 in Patuxent River, Maryland. Additionally, he was the Commander Fleet Logistics Support Wing Maintenance Officer Of The Year for 2004 and the receipt of two Navy Commendation Medals for exempliary military service. Prior to his retirement, Joe completed a master's in aeronautical science with specialization in aerospace safety systems from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. He was hand- selected by ERAU Staff & Faculty to teach safety program management courses at McGuire AFB, in Trenton, NJ, to military and civilian undergraduate students. Joe is currently in development of a hybrid wind and solar generation system concept for local and global alternative energy support. Joe is a strong supporter of community service through his involvement as vice president of the Human Relief Organization/USA in Hampton, VA. He was recently recognized in Troy, MI, during October 2008 by the African Women Economic Consortium. Joe was awarded AWEC's 2009 International Leadership Renewable Energy Award. Joe traveled to Monrovia, Liberia, during June 2009 to work with the Network of African Youth Development to assist in establishing an alternative energy educational program with A.M.E. Zion University. He was also presented the PV Energy's Sustainable Solar, Wind and Geothermal Energy Dome Village architectural design concept to local ambassadors for implementation in Western and Central Africa.
