SEI Alumni Highlight: Brandon Williams of Iron Edison
Posted on October 30, 2014
The day after completing the SEI battery lab, I drove to install my first off-grid system in Moab, UT. The customer lives in Montezuma Canyon, which is an ancient Anasazi Indian area. There is no excavation allowed in the Montezuma Canyon, so there are no power lines. There are cliff dwellings and ancient kiva sites all along the road into the site.
SEI helped grow my business by giving me the tools to properly size and design an off-grid solar energy system. Every class I took helped me to understand more about inverter, solar and battery technology. The instructors ...Read More »

2017 NEC in Full Swing...What?!?
Solar Energy International
That's right, the deadline to submit proposals for the 2017 National Electrical Code is rapidly approaching. As of this writing, around a quarter of the states have adopted the 2014 NEC; the majority are still on 2011 - though that number is continually shrinking - along with a few lingerers stuck on 2008.
Regardless of what Code is enforced in your AHJ, the PV industry is heavily involved in making sure that refinements and additions in the next Code improve clarity, address new system ...Read More »
