Have you heard about Solar Energy International’s brand new online course PV203 PREP: Battery-based PV System Fundamentals? It launched on Monday June 11th and it is quickly becoming one of our most popular courses! It is an online course that is on-demand: you can sign up anytime at and begin the course upon completing registration!

One of the most exciting aspects of this course are the videos featuring SEI’s premier instructors presenting our nationally recognized curriculum – now you can learn from our incredible instructors from the comfort of your home! Each lesson includes a link to a presentation with both the powerpoint slides and a video of an instructor (see picture below). This is one step SEI is taking to further bridge the gap between online and in-person instruction. Talk about flexibility – you can sign up and start your course whenever you want; you can watch your instructor teaching at your convenience; you can pause or rewind if you need to spend more time on certain concepts; and you’ll get a solid foundation on battery-based PV system topics in less than 20 hours!

Battery-based PV systems have a diverse range of applications: PV-direct water pumping systems, simple lighting systems, remote telecom sites, stand-alone or grid-tied with battery back-up homes, or complex hospital systems, to name a few – the possibilities are endless! This course will address the myriad of system types and the design differences that need to be considered for each. If you have been in the industry focusing on grid-direct systems this is the perfect course to take to make sure you have a solid understanding of battery-based systems before sitting for the NABCEP Entry Level Exam. Completion of this course also allows students to take SEI’s PV301L: Battery-based Lab Week to get hands-on experience.
