Renewable energy teacher trainings a hit!
July 13, 2010
By Noah DavisSEI Solar in Schools Coordinator
Solar Energy International would like to thank everyone who helped make both of our Renewable Energy for Educators teacher trainings huge successes this year.
We trained 29 teachers and non-formal educators hailing from both coasts and many points in between - including one teacher from Canada. Within these workshops we strive not only to show how our Solar In the Schools outreach program teaches youth, but also to create a fertile, open environment in which teachers can grow their own ideas - and the idea garden really bloomed this year.
Many lucky students across the nation will benefit from the renewable energy knowledge, materials, resources and passion that these teachers bring back to their classrooms. Thanks especially to XCEL Energy, who increased their regular contribution to the workshops this year, enabling us to add the extremely well-received Advanced Hands-On Workshop. The Garfield New Energy Communities Initiative also generously contributed scholarships for local Energy Champion teachers.
And the new SEI Third Street Center classroom proved an ideal locale for this type of learning. We look forward to many successful teacher training workshops there in the future. The attached photo and logo files below are for your use in newsletters, etc.
