SEI's solar training in Tucson offers installation experience
December 16, 2010
By Ed Eaton, Solar Energy International Instructor
Since 1994, Solar Energy International has offered hands-on workshops in Tucson, Arizona. We have hosted attendees from across the land, and from other countries as well, over the years. Traveling to Tucson in the winter months to attend a solar energy training workshop is not a hard pill to swallow. Each year, attendees enjoy the warm climate in a friendly, learned atmosphere while participating in an actual installation. Workshop attendees have installed more than 20 separate photovoltaic systems with each workshop, being its own unique experience. I have been the primary instructor in 95 percent of these workshops, working along with true masters of the field doing business in the area.
In 2011, Solar Energy International offers PV101: Solar Training - Solar Electric Design and Installation (Grid-Direct) w/ Residential Installation in Tucson. Course dates are Feb. 21-26, March 21-26, and April 18-23. Each six-day Solar Energy International PV workshop includes a residential install. In the past, SEI has partnered with organizations including Habitat for Humanity to bring our students the most intensive hands-on training using real-life applications.
PV101: Solar Training - Solar Electric Design and Installation (Grid-Direct) w/ Residential Installation provides an overview of the three basic PV system applications, primarily focusing on grid-direct systems. The goal of the course is to create a fundamental understanding of the core concepts necessary to work with all PV systems, including: System components, site analysis, PV module criteria, mounting solutions, safety, and commissioning.Get your "hands-on" under the desert sun!
