INVEST stands for "International Volunteers in Environmentally Sustainable Technologies"
Q. Which workshops do I need to take to be eligible for the INVEST program?
A. It depends on the partner organization that you will be working with. Many organizations require you to have taken the Renewable Energy for the Developing World workshop. The majority of the organizations involved in INVEST work on PV projects, and require the PV Design & Installation workshop. Others conduct wind power or micro-hydro projects, and others work in sustainable building. Each organization requires different skills and knowledge.
Q. Do I have to fund my volunteer opportunity myself?
A. Some of the partner organizations provide lodging to volunteers. Others require a small monthly fee to cover food and lodging. All travel to the country where you will be volunteering must be paid by the volunteer. However, many volunteers have successfully fundraised among friends, churches, clubs, and charities to help fund their trip.
Q. How do I find out what volunteer opportunities are available?
A. Once you fill out an application we will see which available opportunities fit your skills and experience, and let you know your options. You can also contact SEI and we will let you know the upcoming opportunities. Likewise, you can sign up for the INVEST email list, and we will let you know when new volunteer opportunities arise.
“SEI offers the most comprehensive and practical training available in the country.”
