Outreach Programs
Through our Outreach Programs, SEI works with grassroots and development organizations around the world to promote sustainability and improve quality of life. We also work locally and regionally to educate schoolchildren about the benefits of solar, wind and water power.
SEI's Outreach Programs are supported by the generous donations of our members. To learn how you can become an SEI member, please click here. Learn more about SEI's outreach programs: Solar In the Schools (SIS) -- High-energy educational outreach for K-12 students and educators. SIS delivers classroom presentations and fair appearances featuring interactive and hands-on renewable energy activities and scientific experimentation that fosters critical thinking. INVEST -- International Volunteers in the Environmentally Sustainable Technologies -- Connecting alumni of SEI's renewable energy program with appropriate organizations working in volunteer opportunities in rural development around the world. Women's Program -- Offering women's-only technical training workshops in a supportive learning atmosphere to help bring more women into the renewable energy field. Some scholarships available. SEI Eco-Campus -- In 2005, SEI began the process of turning a long-term dream into reality - to construct a state-of-the-art renewable energy education facility on 7 beautiful acres of land in Paonia, Colorado. Native American Program -- SEI works with Native Americans to help them satisfy their energy and housing needs with renewable energy and natural building. SEI works with Native American NGOs and non-profit organizations and has trained people from the Western Shoshone, Skull Valley Goshute, Lakota Sioux, Yurok, Zuni, Hopi, and Chippewa Nations. Walt Ratterman Scholarship Fund -- Walt Ratterman was a solar advocate who worked tirelessly to bring solar electricity to people who desperately need it around the world. This scholarship fund will allow people from developing countries to attend SEI workshops to bring this crucial knowledge back to their communities. |
