Online Education
Another round of SEI's online courses are starting soon. PV Design Online is offered from January 13 - February 21. The Solar Home Design online workshop runs January 27 - March 7. Learn how to design a complete solar electric system, and how to build passive solar, environmentally-friendly homes, from the comfort of your own home. SEI is offering Photovoltaic Design and Installation workshops around the country this spring, including a workshop in the beautiful U.S. Virgin Islands! Women 's PV Training Around the Country
SEI's women instructors have been teaching photovoltaic workshops for women all over the country. SEI taught a one day women's PV workshop in conjunction with the American Solar Energy Society conference in Reno, Nevada. At the Midwest Renewable Energy Fair in Wisconsin, SEI taught workshops for women on PV basics, solar site analysis, wind basics, sizing a grid-tied PV system and energy efficiency. This spring and summer SEI is offering a week-long Women's PV workshop in Santa Cruz, CA, a two-week Women's PV workshop in Colorado, a Women's wind workshop in Wisconsin, and a Women's carpentry workshop in Colorado.

Latin American Rural Electrification Conference
SEI and Global Exchange are organizing a U.S. delegation to attend the 19th Latin American Rural Electrification Conference to be held in Havana, Cuba, May 3-12, 2003. This international conference is focued on the technology, sustainability and benefits of rural electrification. It's also a great opportunity to see what Cuba is doing with renewables, and to network with other professionals working in rural electrification throughout Latin America. There will be an equipment and technology fair, and site visits to rural PV-powered schools, health clinics and a PV manufacturing plant.

Amory Lovins joins SEI's Advisory Board
Amory Lovins, co-founder and CEO of the Rocky Mountain Institute, joined SEI's International Advisory Board in November, 2002. Amory is a physicist, author and consultant. Newsweek has praised him as "one of the Western world's most influential energy thinkers," and the Wall Street Journal named Mr. Lovins one of 39 people worldwide "most likely to change the course of business in the '90s." SEI would like to thank Hunter Lovins for serving on our Advisory Board since 1992. We are honored that Amory will be sharing his extensive experience and wisdom with us. SEI to Offer PV Certification
Solar Energy International is one of the first organizations to be accredited by the Institute for Sustainable Power (ISP) to offer photovoltaic certification. Along with the Florida Solar Energy Center, SEI now offers PV certification adhering to ISP standards developed by an international committee of renewable energy and education experts.
