Project Manager - Structural/Mechanical Engineering

RESPONSIBILITIES

The position reports to the North America Business Development Manager andmanages major engineering and development projects for BP Solar.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, execute and manage new development programs
  • Design and engineer products in support of new offers, with special focus on structural and mechanical systems.
  • Specify, procure and qualify new products and components

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Education: BS in structural or mechanical engineering or other engineering
    discipline.

  • 5 years experience with PV technology preferred.

2-3 Field Technicians

Sundance Power Systems is a renewable energy installation and design company based out of Weaverville, NC. Sundance has been in the renewable energy business for 13 years. We install residential and commercial solar electric, solar thermal, wind, hydroelectric systems as well as hydronic heating systems.

We are currently seeking 2-3 Field Technicians. Technicians install and service solar hot water, solar electric, wind, hydroelectric and radiant floor heating systems. Technicians typically install systems with the supervision of a Forman or Project Manager for 18 – 24 months before potentially moving into a managerial role in the field, ie. Forman, Project Manager.

We are looking for people who want to make long term commitments working in the RE field. Disposable labor isn’t an option for us in the hiring process. It takes a substantial amount of time for us to train employees to become proficient in their craft, so our intention in every hire is for long term employment. These are full time positions with benefits and paid vacations. Pay is dependent on experience. Make no mistake, this is a fun job, but a hard one. Installations are primarily along the I-70 corridor from Denver to Vail. The business involves design, sales and installation of solar systems for homes and businesses.

Field Technician

SolFocus Europe are currently looking for a Field Technician who will be responsible for operating and maintaining the SolFocus tracker systems throughout construction and once construction is complete. Solfocus's CPV products are designed to perform at world-class quality and cost levels, with the goal of competing with traditional forms of energy generation. The position provides a unique opportunity to work with innovative and break-through products in the exciting and growing market for renewable energy solutions. The successful candidate must be well versed in both electronic and mechanical systems to provide field maintenance and carry out the following tasks: 

  • Oversee project construction and communicating all due progress, repairs and issues to the head office in California through verbal and written documentation
  • Troubleshoot and repair, or arrange for the repair, of all subsystems and components of the Solfocus solar systems; including panel replacement, mechanical tracker screw jack, data logger, networks, inverter, motors and controllers
  • Organizing and contracting labor to complete repairs

The successful candidate must have a Bachelors of Science in Engineering or equivalent years of experience in a technical field working with mechanical and electronic systems. Further requirements are: 

  • Bi-lingual in Spanish and English
  • General understanding of general building codes and construction standards in Spain
  • Proficient with MS Office and Windows XP
  • Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, organizational, team work, and time management skills

Whilst an immediate understanding of the Solar Energy world is not completely necessary, it is a significant plus.
