¡The President of Chile announces the program “Scholarships for Human Capital,” solar workshops for 150 Chileans, lead by SEI!

Last week the President of Chile, Michelle Bachelet, announced the program “Scholarships for Human Capital,” a program that will train 150 professionals from Chile between November of 2015 and April of 2016.  The program is made possible by the Corporation of Production Development (CORFO), a governmental organization dedicated to improving competitiveness and productive diversification in Chile through the promotion of innovation and the strengthening of human capital. The PV workshops will be taught by SEI instructors and will focus on systems of both utility and residential scale. SEI is extremely excited to begin this excellent program with one of the most important countries involved in the development of solar energy in Latin America.

Kathryn Swartz, the Executive Director of Solar Energy International, said of the program:

“Solar Energy International is honored to be partnering with CORFO to provide  industry-leading solar technical training. The program is designed to grow the local solar workforce in a region that already has the most megawatts of installed solar in all of Chile.

The expert instructors from SEI’s Programa Hispano will teach the solar workshops, which will include hands-on lab workshops with leading solar equipment.

This program continues on the training that SEI has conducted in the region in conjunction with First Solar. This is a wonderful example of a public-private partnership where government and industry have come together to ensure that the local population has access to good-paying, technical jobs.”

The government is now accepting applications from Chileans who want to commence or continue expanding their knowledge of solar energy.  The Atacama region boasts the most installed solar energy in all of Chile and is the perfect place for SEI instructors to teach hands on workshops.
