Wind Training - Wind Design and Installation

This wind energy training is worth 40 educational hours towards the NABCEP Small Wind Installer Certification and is ISPQ (Institute for Sustainable Power Quality) accredited.

This course is based on standards set by NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners).  The standards, referred to as the Objectives and Task Analysis for a Professional Small Wind Energy System Installer can be accessed online at http://irecusa.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/2010_Small-Wind-Task-Analysis.pdf. This training counts for 40 educational hours towards the NABCEP Small Wind Installer Certification. 

Topics Include:
• How residential wind generators work
• Site analysis
• Towers and tower economics
• Grid-tied systems
• Off-grid wind/PV hybrid systems
• Wind system sizing
• Legal issues and zoning
• Installation and safety considerations

Topics NOT included:
• Do-it-yourself Wind Turbines
• Vertical Axis Wind Turbines
• Roof Mounting and Short Towers
• Commercial Turbines

This course includes access to our online PV101 PREP Course. This Prep Course goes over the basics of electricity, utility bill analysis, and efficiency, which you'll need to know before coming to this class. Within 3-4 business days of registration, you will receive an email from seionline@solarenergy.org that contains your username, password, and login instructions so that you can begin work in this course. The PV101 PREP Course is a self-paced instructorless course that  will take an estimated 10 hours to complete. Please complete this online course prior to your in-person Wind Training.
