About SEI

Fundacion Durika, Costa Rica

The Reserva Biológica Dúrika (RBD) presents to the real naturalist a unique opportunity to know and experiment the extraordinary and almost unknown biodiversity of this zone of Costa Rica.

Dúrika is a private reservation of approximately 18500 acres located in the heights of Cordillera de Talamanca, in the center south region of the country, 17 kilometers northeast from Buenos Aires city.

The Reserva Biológica Dúrika is inside the Biosphere Protective Zone and limits to the north with the Parque Internacional de la Amistad (P.I.L.A), an area of more than 2,471,000 acres, which contains the most extensive and unexplored virgin forest of all Costa Rica.

This fascinating region has not been well explored, mainly due to the terrain difficulties and that there are not enough infrastructures available to the visitor. For this reason the Fundación Dúrika offers to the real naturalist a special opportunity to know and enjoy this part of Costa Rica, as very few people have done before in the past.

Lodging/Food (included in tuition)
The community is totally vegetarian, and no drugs or alcohol are allowed. All meals are included and are for a minimum of eight nights. Longer stays on either end may be possible, depending on availability. All lodging is dorm style. You will be sharing lodging with two to four other people. Cabins are rustic but comfortable, with a full bathroom in each, and all linens are provided.
