what you will learn
The International Code Council publishes an entire suite of codes, and now a number of the codes include requirements specific to rooftop PV installations. The International Building Code, the International Residential Code and the International Fire Code (2012 Editions) include new PV-specific code requirements that you need to be aware of. The I-Codes are enforced throughout most of the US; PV installations are, by law, required to meet the code requirements. Understanding the I-Code requirements is critical to successful long-term rooftop PV installations and the reduction of liability for PV installers for all types of buildings—from the 3kW installation on a small home to the 250kW installation on the big box warehouse!
Information directly from the codes will be provided, as well as a number of graphics and photographs.
