SEI Spanish Program Manager

Matthew Harris is the Program Manager for Solar Energy International's (SEI) Spanish Program. This program aims to establish SEI as a leading renewable energy training provider in Spanish speaking countries, with a focus on Latin America. Matthew joined SEI in 2005 and is an SEI alumni of the class of 1999. Educated in architectural design with a focus on sustainable design & natural building, Matthew shares a vision of a built environment focused on regenerative, restorative design strategies.

In his time with SEI, Matthew has overseen the planning and development of SEI's 7-acre Renewable Energy Education Center in Paonia, CO, a facility designed to provide SEI trainees, SEI staff, and the public at large with a place of renewable energy practice and study. Matthew directed the program, Academia de Profesionales Solares de las Americas (APSA). APSA was funded by the United States State Department under the Energy & Climate Partnership of the Americas and focused on a training program to develop a workforce enabling them to increase universal access to electricity through renewable energy development. APSA trained 50 people, representing countries, communities, and organizations throughout Central America and Mexico to design, install and maintain solar PV systems and to successfully launch and administer businesses in this critically important industry.

Matthew lives in Paonia, CO with his wife, cat and vegetable garden. When Matthew is not working to fulfill SEI's mission he spends time as an Improv comedian, coaching and refereeing soccer, spending time in Colorado's beautiful mountains, and drinking Yerba Mate.
