Matthew Harris

SEI Education Center Manager

Matthew Harris has been a part of the SEI family since 2005. Educated in architectural design with a focus on sustainable natural building, Matthew shares a vision of a built environment focusing on regenerative, restorative design strategies. Since 1999, Matthew has shared techniques such as cob, straw bale, adobe, and earthen plasters with many people throughout the world.
In his role at SEI Matthew has overseen the planning and development of SEI's 7-acre Renewable Energy Education Center in Paonia, CO for the past 6 years. The SEI Education Center aims to provide students, staff and the public at large with an inspiring experience in renewable energy education and practice.
With a passion for travel and world cultures, Matthew serves as the Director of the Academia de Profesionales Solares de las Americas (APSA). APSA will train 50 people, representing countries, communities, and organizations throughout Central America and Mexico to design, install and maintain solar PV systems and to successfully launch and administer businesses in this critically important industry. This program will use SEI's highly regarded Spanish PV curriculum. The Academia de Profesionales Solares de las Americas supports the latest initiative of the US State Department, the Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas: Connecting the Americas 2022 by training a workforce able to increase universal access to electricity through renewable energy development, supplying renewable/clean sources of power generation to the market.
