I studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Costa Rica, and from there I decided to develop my career in renewable energies. I have worked for 7 years as a project engineer in Costa Rica. For 5 years I worked in off-grid systems, where we developed the implementation of hybrid PV, Hydro, and Wind systems with lead-acid energy storage. I am a designer for the HydroTech brand where micro-hydroelectric turbines from 300W-20kW are manufactured.
Later I worked for 2 years in the development of grid-tied PV systems on an industrial scale. Here we implemented 2 of the first microgrids in Costa Rica, unifying PV energy, grid, backup generators, and BESS, with lithium-ion energy storage technology. I am currently working on the development of DCS for large-scale power generation plants in North American projects.
During my career, I have been technically trained by taking SEI courses (Advance Pv Multimode And Microgrid Design Battery-Based, Advance Pv Stand-Alone System Design Battery-Based, Advanced Pv System Design And The NEC Grid-Direct, Appropriate Technology For The Developing World) which allowed me to become certified as NABCEP PV Installation Professional.
Aside from work, I like outdoor activities, running, hiking, swimming, board games, and volunteering.
