SEI’s training at the conference includes:

Design Principles of Utility-Connected PV Systems
June 8 at 2:30pm SAST

This entry-level PV system design workshop is recommended for anyone new to the solar market and interested in navigating their way into this fast-growing industry.  With a focus on utility-connected PV systems (the largest and fastest-growing market sector), the class begins by introducing primary components, terminology, and applications for solar electric (PV) systems. We will discuss concepts that are critical for good design, and how they are applied in practice. This workshop will provide a solid, basic foundation from which a larger exploration of utility-connected PV systems can be launched.

Fundamentals of PV Systems with Energy Storage
June 10 at 2:30pm SAST

The energy storage sector is developing quickly. With many battery-based inverter options, storage technology options, and utility interaction options, it may feel overwhelming to keep up with all of the industry developments. In this training you will build a solid foundation for understanding the solar + storage industry today. We will focus on describing what we can accomplish by integrating energy storage into PV systems. You will understand the most common system configurations and applications, and how they may interact with the utility grid

Instructor Bio
Kristopher Sutton
Co-Director, Middle East and Africa
Solar Energy International (SEI)

Kristopher has been a full time solar PV professional since 1999. Working in multiple facets of the industry over a long career, he has maintained a singular focus of  developing a globally successful PV industry. Beginning his career as a PV system installer, he transitioned to a lead technician while eventually doing project management, site analysis, design, and customer support for an EPC contractor. He quickly realized for this industry to grow rapidly that it is critical to have a well trained workforce which instigated his transition from the roof to the classroom. Working with SEI, he has trained over 3000 people on the installation, design, and maintenance of PV systems  and is now focused on providing SEI’s industry leading technical trainings in the developing markets of the Middle East and Africa.
