In June, SEI announced the formation of a new scholarship fund aimed to advance inclusivity within our organization and the renewable energy field as a whole. After revisiting SEI’s core values to Educate, Engage and Empower, we are striving to find new ways to create equitable systems within the structure and mission of our operations, including a dedication to evolve in how we work and show up in the world.
We are happy to announce the official establishment of the SEI PRIDE Scholarship for LGBTQIA+ individuals and those who are actively involved in promoting the equal rights and acceptance of gay, lesbian, transgender and other LGBTQIA+ communities. With a goal of supporting professional development opportunities, this in-house scholarship serves those interested in joining the solar industry or progressing their solar careers. SEI is initiating this scholarship to “put our money where our mouths are;” in the pursuit of diversity and inclusion, this scholarship aims to advance equity by creating tangible educational and workforce opportunities for LGBTQIA+ communities.
Currently $5,000 in scholarship funds will be awarded to hand-selected SEI students, being applied towards SEI’s PVOL101/FVOL101 and/or PVOL203/FVOL203 online courses.
SEI anticipates the growth of this scholarship fund in the years to come as we continue to seek a supportive, accessible, and empowering learning environment for all.
