PAONIA, CO. – Solar Energy International (SEI) is proud to announce that Elizabeth Sanderson, SEI’s Executive Director, was recently elected as a board member of Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA). Sanderson is one of fifteen other newly elected SEIA board members and division chairs that will serve for a two-year term, helping SEIA advance strong policies at the state and federal levels to ensure open, competitive markets for solar and storage development. Creating this favorable policy environment will be critical as the industry strives for solar to account for 30% of U.S. electricity generation by 2030.
“It’s an honor and pleasure to serve as a representative for innovation and entrepreneurship for the industry and for every individual that contributes to the growing solar workforce,” Sanderson said.
Sanderson is joined by new representatives from leading solar and storage companies such as Enphase Energy, Freedom Forever, Nautilus Solar, and Array Technologies. “The Solar+ Decade is here, and the addition of these leaders is part of a broader coalescing in the solar and storage industry as we work toward a vision of being the dominant form of power on the grid,” said SEIA president and CEO Abigail Ross Hopper. “The market is ripe for a new clean energy economy, and the companies joining our board today are at the forefront of delivering that clean, reliable energy that consumers and businesses are demanding.”
The addition of the newly elected board members will help strengthen the diversity of voices on SEIA’s board, which consists of businesses in every solar market segment and all parts of the solar value chain, from installers, developers, manufacturers, financiers, to educators and other service providers. Each of these sectors will play a vital role in the historic growth of the solar industry. New members will begin their terms on Jan. 1, 2022.
