Managing the PV System Life Cycle: O&M
September 17th, 11-6pm ET
Operations and maintenance (O&M) is a growing sector of the PV industry, which has realized that “plug and play” or “set it and forget it” are not viable strategies for long-term – and safe – PV system performance. Installers, EPCs, project developers, asset managers, financiers and utilities are all implementing O&M plans for PV systems, with varying techniques designed to maximize system production and availability, and to maintain equipment warranties, with the understanding that regular preventive maintenance is much less expensive than reactive maintenance. Many maintenance requirements are PV system specific; others are common procedures used across the electrical industry. Of course, regardless of how thorough a maintenance plan is, problems can still, and do, occur, requiring troubleshooting – which can be among the most hazardous activities for a PV technician. This course will cover O&M strategies, focusing on the tools and techniques for field applications, as well as troubleshooting common reactive maintenance issues.
