Solar Energy International (SEI) and AES partner to create a solar training scholarship program that encourages participation in Colorado’s solar industry

Paonia, Colo., October 10, 2022 — Solar Energy International (SEI), a leading solar training educational non-profit, has again collaborated with The AES Corporation, a global energy company accelerating the future of energy and a leading developer of utility-scale solar generation, to extend a solar workforce development services program to Colorado. The new program is the third of its kind, with existing programs previously established for Utah and New Mexico residents. The program includes a scholarship fund for individuals, encouraging local participation in the Colorado clean energy industry through professional development and eventual entry into the solar energy workforce.

AES’ backing provides financial assistance in the form of tuition fees for 15 Colorado residents to enroll in SEI’s North America Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) PV Associates online training package, which includes PVOL101 and PVOL203 online classes along with NABCEP PV Associate testing.

“Colorado’s solar workforce is certainly growing, and this program will help empower future energy experts, providing training for people who are interested in becoming part of this fast-paced, innovative industry,” said Chris Turek, SEI’s VP of Marketing and Business Development.

Hand-selected recipients of the scholarship will gain access to SEI’s online campus, where they can train from anywhere in the world, learning solar energy technology concepts, engaging with online instructors and classmates, and preparing themselves for their vital role in the solar industry.
