PAONIA, CO. – Solar Energy International (SEI) is thrilled to announce that Kathy Swartz, SEI’s Executive Director, was recently elected as a board member of Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA). Swartz is one of four other newly elected at-large SEIA members that will serve for a two-year tenure, helping SEIA create strategies that facilitate growing tax and trade policies, strong state solar markets and secure future competition, all in an effort to create economic growth, new industry jobs and identify significant solutions to climate change. “It’s an honor to serve as the voice for our 75,000 alumni and to ensure that the industry addresses the needs of the solar workforce” Swartz said.
Swartz is joined by new or re-elected at-large board members Kendra Hubbard of Unirac, Gilbert Campbell of Volt Energy and Janice Schneider of Latham and Watkins, who will serve as an alternate. “We are thrilled to have these new leaders help guide our trade association into the next decade,” said Abigail Ross Hopper, president and CEO of SEIA. “Our new leaders, paired with existing at-large board members, have a clear sense of what it’s going to take for us to transition into a clean energy economy in the next decade, and I can’t wait to work with them toward that goal.”
SEIA is now entering into what they are calling the ‘Solar+ Decade’, where the renewable energy industry will eventually become the leading source in electricity production. Their goal is for solar to eventually contribute to 20% of U.S. electricity needs by 2030.
Leaders will begin their terms on Jan. 1, 2020. Click here to see a full list of SEIA board members and vice chairs.
