In March, 2014, Kristen came to SEI as a work-trader with the question, “What is electricity?” With a bachelors of architecture, and a passion for natural building, answering this question seemed like an important step for Kristen to take in order to strengthen her understanding of the built environment. Eight classes and thousands of questions later, Kristen has gained enough knowledge of the renewable energy industry that SEI has put confidence in her to be the coordinator of Solarize Delta County, an Americorps VISTA position focused on bringing community revitalization and economic development to our local communities through energy efficiency and renewables. Aside from all of the exciting developments Kristen is looking forward to within Solarize Delta County, she is most looking forward to instructor training – 2015, so that she can ask a more intelligent question than “What is electricity?” to the incredible league of solar nerds who will flood into Paonia to prepare for another amazing season of fun and learning in the sun.
