Posted by: chris on February 14, 2013
By Laura Walters, SEI PV Curriculum Team

In the beginning of October, I hopped on a plane and flew to California to take part in the first-ever Solar Ambassadors Training with We Care Solar. Fourteen woman from around the World and were chosen to take part in this training – fourteen strangers who were about to form a special bond.

Who is We Care Solar and what was the Solar Ambassador program all about? If you are part of SEI’s network, you may remember the name We Care Solar from when SEI partnered with them in the past to build their signature Solar Suitcases ...

Solar Energy International's Colorado Winter Wonderland

Posted by: chris on January 17, 2013
Winter is in full swing in Colorado at our PV lab facility and office. There is a deep layer of snow coating lab roof tops and modules. One of the great things about Colorado in the winter is once the sun comes out everything turns into magic, with the flat surface of every snow flake catching the sun, turning our lab facility into a winter wonderland of glittering diamonds. Staff has been busy keeping the arrays clear of snow for some fantastic cold weather energy output, as well as preparing for the upcoming summer labs.

Upgrades to the labs start with our PV 351L ...

Make a Difference: Attend PV America East, Philadelphia, PA - February 5-7, 2013

Posted by: chris on December 20, 2012
I have been thinking a lot about ambition lately. Ambition specifically in regards to our world’s energy future, and climate and social justice. We live in such an exciting moment of discovery and innovation, where we get to be designers of our collective future. UN climate negotiations wrapped up recently in Doha, Qatar, where the world came together on a climate deal for our future. NGOs, civil society, and renewable energy industries continue to put forth ambitious statements and agendas for a resilient energy future. Being part of the renewable energy industry is an exciting opportunity ...

Posted by: chris on December 20, 2012
I often receive the question…so what does SEI do when your lab classes wind down for the season in Paonia, Colorado? The answer is…plenty! Though the year is drawing towards a close, SEI does not. In fact, we are busier than ever. For our regular readers, I thought you may appreciate some highlights from the past two months.

Solar Energy International Assists the National Park Service with Solar PV Integration

Posted by: chris on December 20, 2012
Solar Energy International (SEI) has been assisting the National Park Service (NPS) in eastern Utah over the past couple years with solar electric design and installation consulting services. The various Parks in the region have numerous PV systems, mostly of the “stand-alone” variety due to their remote locations. Being early adopters, these National Parks are now replacing 20-year-old, off-grid PV systems that have served the parks and public well.

This fall SEI completed a project in Arches National Park working with their maintenance staff to upgrade an existing ...
